P.U.R.T. Logo

Trust the odor removal experts at Chem-Dry. Our revolutionary system has worked to eliminate countless urine stains from carpet, rugs and upholstery. Chem-Dry’s Pet Urine Removal Treatment (P.U.R.T.®) is the most effective way to eliminate pet odor because it works to remove the stain deep below the surface.

Our innovative product was specially formulated to eliminate urine and other odors. It has shown excellent results on even the most challenging urine affected areas. Pet urine can cause permanent damage to your floors and fabrics. It can also create an unhealthy indoor environment.

Pet Urine Cutaway

There are two sources of odors associated with urine. The first comes from bacteria that grow abundantly in dark warm places with a never-ending food source. The waste materials and gases from the decomposing urine create an unpleasant odor. If smelled once it is seldom forgotten. The second source of odor is chemical odor that is present even when the bacteria have been killed. This explains the reason that more than sanitizing is necessary to neutralize odors from urine. When P.U.R.T® contacts the source of the odor, it immediately begins a chemical reaction that destroys the odor of the urine…forever.

Why is Pet Urine in Carpet So Hard to Remove?

Great Question! The urine starts in the carpet, seeps into the pad, and into the sub floor. When we clean the carpet it can reduce the urine in the carpet only. It is very difficult to clean the carpet yourself or steam clean the stain without spreading the urine. This is because the amount of water and the force of water that spreads the urine crystals to new places, making it more difficult to pinpoint the affected areas. If you replace the carpet and do not treat the sub floor, you can still have an odor.

Pet Odor Removal by Palm Breeze Chem-Dry

1. Thorough cleaning – Our powerful equipment will clean deep into your floor to flush the carpet fibers and reduce the amount of urine crystals, which in return reduces the odor.

2. Antibacterial – This application is for reducing the amount of bacteria from the urine and preventing soiling.

3. P.U.R.T. – The carpet, pad and sub floor are all saturated with P.U.R.T. to ensure complete odor removal. This patented treatment is meant to break up the urine crystals and release their entire odor. It takes 24-48 hours to dry. You want to open windows slightly to let the odor escape.

Carpet Filtration Soiling

Filtration Soiling

(Those ugly black lines around the baseboards and under doorways)

Filtration Soiling

If you have light colored carpet, you may have experienced these dark lines that appear on the carpet. This soiling is called filtration soiling because it comes from air passing through the carpet as it is attempting to get through the crack between the carpet and the baseboard or under a closed door. This occurs over a significant period of time and is not noticed until a build-up has occurred.

This type of soiling is difficult to remove because the soil particles are so fine that they penetrate deep into the carpet pile, sometimes into the backing of the carpet. Can it be removed? Sometimes. With special products, time and effort, reasonable results can be achieved. Call Palm Breeze Chem-Dry at 561-906-4060 for a free phone consultation and estimate. To help prevent filtration soiling, vacuum and wipe the edges of the carpeting on a regular basis.

Area Rug Care

Basic Rug Care

Rugs deserve the same care as wall-to-wall carpet and, in some cases, require special attention.

  • Washing rugs : If your rug is small and the label says “machine washable”, shake the rug outside first and then put it in the washing machine at the recommended temperature. Use warm water (90 to 105 degrees) and a mild detergent. Tumble your rug dry at the lowest heat setting.
  • Beating larger rugs : If your larger rug is easy to pick up, shake it outside first; then put it over a clothesline and beat it. Next, take the rug inside and vacuum it. If the label says dry clean only, then roll it up and take it to a professional rug cleaner. Save time and aggravation by calling first to see if the cleaner does rug cleaning, many do not. Trust your rugs of all types with Chem-Dry technicians who have been trained as an Area Rug Expert for off-site cleaning.
  • Vacuuming area rugs : Area rugs with fringe require special technique. Use gentle suction and start from the center of the carpet, vacuuming toward the fringe and being careful not to catch the strands in the beater bar. Lift the carpet edge to vacuum beneath the fringe.
  • Caring for Oriental, Turkish or Persian rugs : Clean imported rugs according to your carpet manufacturer’s specifications or bring in a professional cleaning service. Be gentle with fringe. For heirloom-type rugs, you need professionals. Call Chem-Dry to learn more about Expert Area Rug cleaning services.

Wool Carpet Care

Wool Wisdom

One of the most crucial areas of carpet maintenance is removal of spots and spills. It is of utmost importance to act quickly when anything is dropped or spilled, and always have the necessary cleaning materials at hand. Chem-Dry uses special professional cleaning agents designed for use with your wool carpets.

Frequent vacuuming is a wool carpet’s best friend.

  • An upright vacuum with a beater bar/brush is the best type for cut pile carpet. A suction-only vacuum may be required for loop pile Berber carpets to prevent excessive fuzzing. Vacuum cleaner dust bag should be emptied when half full.
  • Exercise prevention maintenance by placing absorbent mats at the most frequently used entrances to your home. Change or launder when these mats become dirty. Filters in your heating and air conditioning systems should be changed regularly.
  • Periodically clean traffic lanes and the areas in front of frequently used chairs.
  • Keep absorbent cloth or paper towels and cleaning solutions on hand for quick response to spills and accidents.
  • DO NOT apply stain repellent treatments which contain any silicone as they tend to accelerate carpet soiling. (Some carpet manufacturers do not accept responsibility for complaints where such treatments have been used.) When having your wool carpet professionally cleaned by Chem-Dry, ask about our Wool Safe® products.

Spot Removal Tips

Spot Removal Steps

1. Act Quickly! Most carpet available today has been treated with a stain-resist treatment, so many spills can be removed if immediate action is taken. The longer the delay, the higher the probability of a spill becoming a permanent stain. Remember, staining is influenced by many factors, and no carpet is completely stain proof.

2. Blot liquids with a dry, white, absorbent cloth or white paper toweling (no printing).

3. Do not scrub the area! Scrubbing may cause pile distortion in the affected area. Continue to use a dry cloth or paper towels until the area is completely dry. For semi-solids, gently scrape up with a rounded spoon. Solids should be broken up and vacuumed until completely removed. If the spot can be identified, locate the substance in the spot removal computer and follow the directions carefully.

4. Pretest any spot removal agent in an inconspicuous area to be certain the solution will not damage the fiber or the dye. After applying several drops to the testing area, hold a white cloth on the wet area for 10 seconds. Examine the carpet and cloth for color transfer, color change, or damage to the carpet. If a change occurs, another cleaning solution should be selected.

5. Apply a small amount of the selected cleaning solution to a white cloth and work in gently.

6. Work from the edges of the spill to the center to prevent the spill from spreading. Do not scrub! Blot to absorb as much of the stain as possible. Repeat if necessary.

7. Continue using the first cleaning solution as long as there is a transfer of the spill to the cloth. It is not necessary to use all of the cleaning solutions if the first solution removes the spill.

8. Be patient! Complete removal of the spill may require repeating the same step several times. Do not continue to step 9 until the stain has been completely removed.

9. Rinse the affected area thoroughly with cold water, and blot with a dry cloth until all of the solution has been removed. Some cleaning solutions will cause rapid soiling if the solution is not completely removed.

10. Apply a one-half inch layer of white paper towels to the affected area, and weigh down with a flat, heavy object. Continue to change paper towels as needed. A dry, absorbent, cleaning compound may be used as a substitute to accelerate drying time.

Understanding the right way to clean carpet will help you save time by doing it correctly the first time with products that do the job right from the start. Not only will Seal of Approval cleaning products help keep your carpet looking great, they can also help meet the warranty requirements of the carpet manufacturer. Below are three simple steps to keeping your carpet clean and looking great.

  2. Clean spots and spills quickly with products that do not damage the carpet or cause it to resoil more quickly.
  3. Professionally deep clean your carpets at least every 12 to 18 months to remove embedded dirt and grime. For premium cleaning benefits, ask about our 6-month cleaning programs.

Stop Dirt at the Door
Preventing dirt and grime from getting on the carpet in the first place is a great way to start keeping it clean. The following helpful hints can stop dirt in its tracks.

  • Use mats : Outdoor and indoor mats or runners can reduce the amount of dirt that enters the house.
  • Take off your shoes : You can save wear and tear on carpet by asking everyone to take their shoes off before entering your home.
  • Change your air filters : Change air filters in your heating and air-conditioning systems as recommended by the manufacturer’s directions. The more dust and particles removed by the filter, the fewer that fall onto the carpet.

Chem-Dry vs. Steam Cleaning

Chem-Dry vs. Steam Cleaning

Compare the Difference
Chem-Dry’s patented Carbonating Cleaner is applied using a low pressure spray machine, covering your carpet with millions of microscopic carbonated bubbles. The carbonation makes dirt and grime release from the fibers of your carpet and raise to the surface where it is easily extracted and swept away. Due to the minimal amount of moisture used, carpets cleaned the Chem-Dry way are dry in only 1 to 2 hours.

This process differs drastically from that of steam cleaners, which simply douse your carpet in buckets of hot, soapy water, then attempt to suck it all back out. While this process does temporarily clean your carpets, it also leaves behind a layer of sticky residue which collects dirt quicker, in addition to leaving moisture at the base of your carpet. This excess of moisture causes the carpets to take longer to dry and allows for mold and bacteria to grow.

Overall, Chem-Dry offers a healthier, more thorough carpet cleaning experience.
